Working with qTest Manager


qTest, a Test Management Tool, has now been integrated with Opkey, enhancing the efficiency of managing test cases for Opkey users. With qTest Manager, users can seamlessly map project artifacts to log new defects, create Test Cases, and more. 

 

Before configuring qTest Manager with Opkey, ensure that you have a registered account.  

 

Let’s proceed to see how you can work with qTest Manager. 

 

Login to the qTest portal with credentials. 

 

 

 

To create a new project, hover over the Profile icon on the top right corner of the page and select Administration from the options. 

 

 

 

On the next page, select Projects and click on Add New Project.  

 

 

 

Enter the details of the Project Name, Start and End Date of the Project, and Description.  

Scroll down and click on Add. 

 

 

 

A notification is displayed stating the Project is successfully created. The created project can be seen under the list of Projects. 

 

 

 

Integration of qTest with Opkey 

 

Let us now map Opkey Projects to qTest to log defects, create test cases, and more. 

 

Login to the Opkey portal, go to the Profile icon and click Settings.

 

 

 

 

Go to Project Management on the left panel. 

 

 

 

Click Projects under Project Management. 

 

 

 

 

Select the respective project to be mapped with the qTest external tool. 

 

 

 

Check the checkbox to enable the integration of qTest. Click on the Configure button.

 

 

 

On the pop-up displayed click on Yes. 

 

 

 

The next window will ask you to enter the credentials of qTest and proceed. 

Enter the URL, Username, and Password. Click on Login. 

 

 

 

Check your project(created on qTest Manager) and click on Save.  


 

 

The project gets successfully configured with qTest. Now go back to the Project Workspace on Opkey. 

 

Click the Tools icon, on the left panel of Project Workspace. 

 

 

 

Select External Tools Integration under Integration Settings 


 

 

 

On the next window, click on the Configure button to log in and proceed. 

 

 

 

You’ll be successfully logged in to the qTest platform

Opkey Test Cases gets mapped with qTest

 

Create a test case in Opkey and add the keyword as shown in the image below. 


 

Click on the Run button. Click on Execute. 


 

 


On the Local Execution Wizard, enter details of Session Name, Build Name, Execution Agent, and Plugin. Check the checkbox of Show Advance Settings on the left. 


 


Click on Next. 


Click on More Settings dropdown and check the checkbox for Update mapped test management artifact. 


 


Add Session Tags to the next window, to easily identify the test case and click on Next. 


 

 

You can map the Global Variable which will replace your existing Input Data argument during the test execution. Click on Finish. 


 

 

View the Live execution page. Click on the View Results button once the execution is over. 


 

In the execution Logs, you can view the Test Cycle and Test Run being created which we will understand moving ahead. 


View the execution result. 


 

 

Opkey creates a test case in the mapped qTest Project. To view the Opkey-created test case in qTest, click on the nine dots and select Manager. 


 


It redirects you to the qTest project page. Search for your mapped Project from the dropdown menu. 


 


On the page, go to the Test Design Tab and view the Opkey-created test case under the sub-folder Test Cases via Opkey. 


 


Similarly, you can execute a test suite in Opkey and it can be seen under Test Execution.


 

  

When the Opkey Test Case is executed without the Opkey Test Suite, a Test Cycle is created in qTest with the name qTest Testing 2023. 


 


A Test run is seen in the Test Cycle by clicking the respective Test Run- link 


 


It redirects you to the next window where you can view the execution details. 



 


The downloaded report will have the details of the execution.
